ELSIE

Bold, beautiful, controversial, a popular culture icon , a sex-symbol. We have tried to capture Marilyn Monroe and her iconic smile, the smile that is deceiving, the smile that is alluring, the smile that is magnetic! The front mudguard depicts an image where Marilyn is taking a selfie while giving a flying kiss. The rear mudguard is a depiction of her bold smile, who is looking at the passersby and other riders and people and road and laughing at them, because she is not going to be with anyone else! One of the Tank sides depict Marilyn enjoying her drink and smoke and other side depicts her chic Seductive look!  The portrait of the patron is in the tank top, who is riding along with all these characters. The entire work is executed on a Base of Red Candy on top of silver with intricate geometric patterns. On top of that we have laid the portraits of Marilyn Monroe. To highlight the portraits, we have made borders in filigree patterns (ornamental Acanthus leaf patterns) in Gold-leaf. We call this project “Elsie”. Elsie Marina is the character played by Marilyn Monroe in the movie ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’.

EYE OF THE TIGER

This Heritage softail project came from Gandhidham, Gujarat. The vision was to paint it in theme of Rocky Balboa (as in the iconic movie series "Rocky", from the seventies and eighties). Rocky's struggle to be a leading boxing champion and maintain the title/position for rest of the life is a brilliant inspirational story in itself. It reflects the struggle, sacrifice, hard work and true grit to get going! As we have limited surface on the body parts(one gas tank and two mudguards), we had to really dedicate a lot of time in story-boarding. It is very important not to lose the lines of the bike, without which the bike will look very bad after fitting, no matter how extra-ordinary the art-work is. We made signature heritage softail pattern with Black and Dirty white color. The black sections has proper Air brush portraits and scenes from movie, and the white portions carry Rocky's practice regime and punch lines from film. One side of the tank carries the portraits of opponents/fighters and other side carries the portraits of his support system and family! The front mudguard has all the iconic fighting scenes from the movie, Rocky-Apollo Creed, Rocky-Clubber Lang, Rocky-Draga. The rear mudguard carries the image of his statue in Philadelphia.

BETWEEN THE LINES

This is a project from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India. The client had a very different and very tricky requirement. He is into manufacturing of railway turnout systems or simply what we know as railroad switches. That is an inseparable identity of his life. He somehow wanted this to be portrayed on his motorcycle. At the same time he was not specific. He said, “If you guys can do it well and good, or else you can think of any other design as well”. But we didn’t want to do “any other design”. Now how do we do it then? We just can’t put random parallel lines. It has to have a flow, have a meaning, a balance, symmetry and aesthetics. The first two weeks we got no idea; simply nothing really came out. Then we resorted to studying how rail switches behave. After a day of study and a considerable amount nicotine deposit, it was all clear! It took a staggering nine days, to just lay the rail patterns, the various switch rails and check rails, and remaining areas with patterns and geometries. After another six days of painstaking detailing and a generous dose of clear coat it is ready to face the world.

TILOTTAMA

The Client had little idea of how he would transform his motorcycle. He provided us his personal details - Sky Blue as favorite color, and He loves Kolkata, its literature etc. We have tried to capture the essence of this rustic city through city scapes. We have not tried to put too many land marks but rather this city's unique hustle & bustle which can be seen only in Kolkata. From Rickshaw pullers, to Durga Puja Idol Makers to Streets which give a feeling of Europe, to Howrah etc. The idea was to make it look like a watercolor painting.. Lucid, washy and Transparent.

HOT ROD FLAMES AND TRUE FIRE

Everyone loves the Old Royal Enfield Bullet Standard, and when it looks exquisite, it is even better. We are happy to have done this brilliant paint job for a fellow Hyderabadi, who wanted exceptional quality and craftsmanship. We finalized on Hot rod flames, because it never goes out of style, and to add some more complexity, we incorporated true fire inside the body of hot rod flame. To top it up, we used Chameleon Blue green pearl pigment for the body and the flame border is a gradient from Violet to Blue.

ROC

This project came all the way from Mumbai! Our client wanted his Harley Davidson Heritage Softail to be done on Gold Leaf with Emerald Green candy in the theme of Eagle. In the tank, the eagle is shown in a downward swoop with its feathers fluttering and intruding into the green section which has ornamental sun-ray overlays. In the background we have the sun, whose flames are inspired from the feathers of eagle. In both the fenders we have kept elements of the eagle and its wings. There are multiple sections which are filled with extremely detailed and complicated shapes and patterns. The patterns and shapes have been carefully chosen; some are inspired from renaissance art forms, some are inspired from things around us - like earth cracks, grape vines, tiles, textiles etc. It has taken multiple weeks, extreme scrutiny at multiple levels, conscious choices and a great team effort to achieve this piece of art. "The Roc appears in Arabic geographies and natural history, popularized in Arabian fairy tales and sailors' folklore. Ibn Battuta tells of a mountain hovering in the air over the China Seas, which was the Roc. The popular story collection “One Thousand and One Nights” includes tales of ‘Abd al-Rahman’ and ‘Sinbad the Sailor’, both which include the roc." ~

FLORENCE

We took the inspiration from Gothic architecture style that flourished across Europe in the medieval age (roughly between 5th to 15th centuries). It evolved from Romanesque architecture and was succeeded by Renaissance architecture. Originating in 12th century France and lasting into the 16th century, Gothic architecture was known during the period as Opus Francigenum ("French work") with the term Gothic first appearing during the later part of the Renaissance. Its characteristics include the pointed arch, the ribbed vault (which evolved from the joint vaulting of Romanesque architecture) and the flying buttress. Gothic architecture is most familiar as the architecture of many of the great cathedrals, abbeys and churches of Europe. Multiple layers of arches and ribbons and ropes run across the body. Characteristic window shapes can be seen on the top bulge of the tank. We have left a window on both sides where we have placed “Harley Davidson 48” in vintage fonts in off-white. In the scoops we have placed a free flowing Acanthus Leaf. While Baroque Patterns form the background for the leaf.

FOR THE RIDE

The customer had a vague idea of how the parts should look like. He wanted more of Gold and kind of Vintage look to the body parts. The customer approached us for Gold leafing project on new kit of Thunderbird from Triumph. The idea was to make it look intricate, neat and sophisticated. To top it up, we suggested him to use some red candy which will accentuate the design. Then we laid out this beautiful artwork on the bike's surface. From start till end, you can see the red flame patterns flowing through the body. The sides having one pattern and the center top portion having another pattern. We have managed to keep the soul of Triumph motorcycle intact by the use of the banner "FOR THE RIDE" on two sides and the Triumph Logo on the center top of tank.

MY OTHER SIDE

Custom Paint job on Harley-Davidson Low-Rider. The theme was BIKES AND BABES and had to be done in the legendary DAVID MANN style. All his artworks were mesmerizing and were done in super detail. We took a reference of his paintings and tweaked them to add some comic sense to them. We re-drew them with our twist and that formed the basis of our work.

DARK FANTASY

This fatboy motorcycle was to be kept dark and finish Matte. But how to get eyes glued to it? The answer was to use variegated gold leaf. The pattern was chosen to follow the lines of the motorcycle from start to finish. The styling and logos go such that they follow the contour of the motorcycle parts. Separate sections were made and they were decorated wit intricate patterns. Elaborate pin striping has been laid painstakingly on each and every corner of the motorcycle. The Logo/Symbol of the client (KE) has been laid beautifully in Gold.

VYALI

This a perfect example of blending Indian traditional art with modern mediums. This work represents a Vyali, a creature which guards the temples/houses etc. and keeps it away from bad spirits and bad eyes. We are sure you might have seen them on temples and ancient architectures and in fact on new constructions sites too. But on a Bike? Yes, we took this challenge and made it look like an old stone/metal carving on some temple. The combination of color is Black and Copper. The copper tank stands out in contrast with black fenders and to balance it, we have kept minimalistic carving temple pattern on all the body parts, but just a little!

THE ARCHANGEL

7 - Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

— Revelation 12:7–10 (NIV)

The artwork on this Harley Davidson Heritage Softail is inspired by the paintings of 16th century Italian painter Guido Reni. Reni was known for his "Baroque" style painting and mostly religious artworks. The highlight of the project is the tank. This artwork depicts the epic fight between St. Michael and Lucifer. Bold colors and brush strokes give a feel of a classic oil painting. We have chosen Black and Cherry Wine Red as the two base colors. The Sections have been demarcated by use of Gold Leaf and pinstripes. Both the front and the rear fenders have been kept simple so as to balance out the artwork on the tank.

BORDOISILA

Bordoisila (Assamese: বৰদৈচিলা) is an Assamese word native to the state of Assam in India. It is a wild wind in Assam, that marks the incoming monsoon season, as it is accompanied with heavy showers and strong wind causing widespread damage. This project came to us all the way from Guwahati, Assam. This Tank and fender combination is a tribute to North East and its craft. The Rear fender embodies a traditional "JAPI", Assamese bamboo hat, with its green and red motifs. It also showcases Japi patterns on Mekhla (Assamese hand loom sarees). The tank primarily showcases Tibetan masks, with Naga shawl patterns on the rest of the parts. The entire work is done on Gold leaf Base with Green, red and black kandy colors.
