CUSTOM PAINTED MOTORCYCLES
We took the inspiration from Gothic architecture style that flourished across Europe in the medieval age (roughly between 5th to 15th centuries). It evolved from Romanesque architecture and was succeeded by Renaissance architecture. Originating in 12th century France and lasting into the 16th century, Gothic architecture was known during the period as Opus Francigenum ("French work") with the term Gothic first appearing during the later part of the Renaissance. Its characteristics include the pointed arch, the ribbed vault (which evolved from the joint vaulting of Romanesque architecture) and the flying buttress. Gothic architecture is most familiar as the architecture of many of the great cathedrals, abbeys and churches of Europe. Multiple layers of arches and ribbons and ropes run across the body. Characteristic window shapes can be seen on the top bulge of the tank. We have left a window on both sides where we have placed “Harley Davidson 48” in vintage fonts in off-white. In the scoops we have placed a free flowing Acanthus Leaf. While Baroque Patterns form the background for the leaf. This project came from Una, Himachal Pradesh. This is a custom made Harley Davidson 48 tank. Idea was to make the tank an absolutely center of attraction, as the rest of the bike will remain black. Our client wanted this to be done in Silver Flakes and Candy Red and gave us complete creative freedom. We thank him for this opportunity. This project will surely remain one of our favorites for a long time.
This project came all the way from Mumbai! Our client wanted his Harley Davidson Heritage Softail to be done on Gold Leaf with Emerald Green candy in the theme of Eagle. In the tank, the eagle is shown in a downward swoop with its feathers fluttering and intruding into the green section which has ornamental sun-ray overlays. In the background we have the sun, whose flames are inspired from the feathers of eagle. In both the fenders we have kept elements of the eagle and its wings. There are multiple sections which are filled with extremely detailed and complicated shapes and patterns. The patterns and shapes have been carefully chosen; some are inspired from renaissance art forms, some are inspired from things around us - like earth cracks, grape vines, tiles, textiles etc. It has taken multiple weeks, extreme scrutiny at multiple levels, conscious choices and a great team effort to achieve this piece of art. "The Roc appears in Arabic geographies and natural history, popularized in Arabian fairy tales and sailors' folklore. Ibn Battuta tells of a mountain hovering in the air over the China Seas, which was the Roc. The popular story collection “One Thousand and One Nights” includes tales of ‘Abd al-Rahman’ and ‘Sinbad the Sailor’, both which include the roc." ~ Wikipedia
This has been a very interesting project. We have been planning on the concept for almost a year. The idea started with just the color combination and many reference images of how it would finally look. Amidst all indecisiveness, one thing was certain, that this motorcycle will celebrate the beauty of women. Women, the most beautiful creation ever, has the power to influence, to seduce, to nurture, to care and to destruct as well. We have however tried to stick to beauty and seduction characteristics. Who can be a better choice than Marilyn Monroe, who is considered an epitome of beauty! Bold, beautiful, controversial, a popular culture icon , a sex-symbol. We have tried to capture her iconic smile, the smile that is deceiving, the smile that is alluring, the smile that is magnetic! The front mudguard depicts an image where Marilyn is taking a selfie while giving a flying kiss. The rear mudguard is a depiction of her bold smile, who is looking at the passersby and other riders and people and road and laughing at them, because she is not going to be with anyone else! One of the Tank sides depict Marilyn enjoying her drink and smoke and other side depicts her chic Seductive look! The portrait of the patron is in the tank top, who is riding along with all these characters. The entire work is executed on a Base of Red Candy on top of silver with intricate geometric patterns. On top of that we have laid the portraits of Marilyn Monroe. To highlight the portraits, we have made borders in filigree patterns (ornamental Acanthus leaf patterns) in Gold-leaf. We call this project “Elsie”. Elsie Marina is the character played by Marilyn Monroe in the movie ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’.
